Raimundo César Alves de Almeida, known as Mestre Itapoan, started his capoeira life back in 1964 in the Academy of Mestre Bimba.

With time, Mestre Itapoan became one of the most dedicated researchers about Mestre Bimba and his Capoeira Regional (Luta Regional Baiana).

Among his famous works is the book : “The Saga of Mestre Bimba”

Mestre Itapoan is also the founder of the Capoeira group “Ginga”
